In hera pheri film the story is simple (as it happens with many good films). The 3 protagonists Shyam (Sunil Shetty), Raju (Akshay Kumar) and Babu Rao (Paresh Rawal) are all in dire need of money.
Shyam needs to pay back an old friend (Om Puri) so that he can get his (Puri's) sister married.
Raju needs it to repay the loans taken by his father to his mother and Babu Rao. When the granddaughter of a local rich man is kidnapped by 'dangerous' gangster Kabira (Gulshan Grover), who mistakenly calls Babu Rao's number, Raju sees an end to all their problems.
He suggests they play a game, do some rigging. And the film is all set to take you on a wonderful journey.
hera pheri movie performance so far surprised me. I never liked Suniel Shetty, but his performance as some gullible workman was amazing. Akki Vanar also surprised me with his comedy timing.
But Paresh was the biggest surprise. Even though he was my only hope for this film, he turned out to be ten times better than I expected. He deserved the Filmfare Award for Best Comedian, which he received for 2000.
Tabu (Anu) needs money as another person who fights with Shyam for a job is also capable. It is a small role but as always she makes a mark. Asrani also gives some laughs in a small role. Om Puri was also excellent in his small role.

This is my favorite Bollywood comedy film along with Andaz Apna Apna. Every time I watch Hira Pheri, I can't stop laughing. The first time I saw it I couldn't sleep most of the night because I just lay in my bed laughing. 10 o'clock for me.
Although I enjoyed Priyadarshan's other comedy films like Hungama, Hulchul and Garam Masala and thought they were nothing less than Hera Pheri, but later when I watched them again they were not as funny as Hera Pheri.
Akshay Kumar's acting was superb but Paresh Rawal stole the show with his character Babu Rao, Sunil Shetty, Tabu and Om Puri also played their part well.
